In January 2024, the entire Dresden exhibition centre will once again be dedicated to holidays, adventure and experiences. At the Reisemesse Dresden travel fair from 26 to 28 January 2024, more than 300 exhibitors will have the perfect dream holiday for everyone – from Australia to the Zugspitze. At the start of the year, the latest trends will be presented at the Dresden Travel Fair – from active holidays to family trips, from cruises to caravanning. The first few months of the year are the main booking period, so the travel fair is just right for providing information and offering early booking deals and trade fair discounts. According to Norbert Fiebig, President of the German Travel Association (DRV), early booking is very much in vogue in 2024. Escape from the daily grind – the latest travel analysis by the German Research Association for Holidays and Travel (FUR) sees good prospects for 2024. This year, visitors to the trade fair stands can once again find out more and be inspired by dream destinations worldwide – from Scandinavia to South Africa. Mongolia, for example, is enjoying increasing demand and has been recommended by the Lonely Planet travel guide as the best travel destination for 2024. In the readers' poll conducted by the US travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler to find the world's best travel destination for 2024, Japan took the top spot. And how about a trip to Peru – the country was once again voted the world's best cultural and culinary destination at the World Travel Awards 2023. The travel fair has offers for individual holidays to suit every taste – currently recommended sunny destinations include Madeira, the island of eternal spring, and the Cape Verde Islands, known as the islands of bliss. In addition, the travel fair is once again presenting attractive destinations in the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe. The Balkan region is still an insider tip for holidaymakers – whether it's a hiking trip to the Albanian Alps or a coastal hike in Montenegro. The region is close, inexpensive, beautiful and significantly less touristy than most other European countries. Traditionally, the popular neighbouring countries of Poland and the Czech Republic are represented at the travel fair, with offers ranging from the Baltic Sea to Lower Silesia. The topic of ‘Active Holidays & Recreation’ is the focus of this year's presentation by CzechTourism. Another focus of the fair is the topic of ‘Cruising’; holidays on the water are back in fashion and are also trending as family holidays. Under the title ‘Fascinating Alps’, attractive destinations in the mountain region are presenting themselves, including information about this year's European Capital of Culture, Bad Ischl Salzkammergut. An entire exhibition hall is dedicated to ‘Destination Germany’ – which will remain the most popular travel destination for Germans in 2024. Active holidays are particularly in demand in Saxony – from hiking trips to bike tours. The fair special ‘e-BIKE-days’ with innovations from pedelecs to cargo bikes as well as offers for bike tours in Hall 2, for the first time with an extra stage and demonstrations by mountain bikers from the Ore Mountains, is a perfect fit for this. And the ‘Camper+ Caravan Days’ are also dedicated to the outdoor theme and show the many facets of freedom on wheels, the new models and everything to do with van conversions. The new camping trends towards roof tents and mini-caravans, which can also be towed by an electric car, can also be seen. Influencer and adventure fan Niklas on fire, known from the first season of 7vsWild, will be at the Camper+Caravan Days for the first time. So in 2024, the Dresden Travel Fair will once again be the first port of call for anyone who doesn't just want to lie on the beach on holiday, but actively explore the country and its people. More than 200 travel lectures in the holiday cinemas and on the exhibition stage will provide inspiration. The fair is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission costs €10, reduced €8, and on Friday there is a senior citizen ticket for €7. All information about exhibitors, the stage programme and holiday cinemas can be found at www.reisemesse-dresden.de or in the travel fair app.
