The big travel fair in Dresden – the best start to the travel year

In January 2024, the entire Dresden exhibition centre will once again be dedicated to holidays, adventure and experiences. At the Reisemesse Dresden from 26 to 28 January 2024, over 300 exhibitors will have the perfect dream holiday for everyone – from Australia to the Zugspitze. At the start of the year, the latest trends will be presented at the Reisemesse Dresden – from active holidays to family trips, from cruises to the caravan boom. After a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic, more than 34,000 visitors flocked to the travel fair in Dresden in January 2023, ensuring a successful restart for the event. There was great demand and a lot of catching up to do when it came to long-haul travel, in line with the motto ‘Finally far away again’. In 2024, visitors will once again be able to visit the exhibition stands to find out more and be inspired by dream destinations around the world – from Mongolia to Madagascar, from Scandinavia to South Africa. And those who prefer a shorter journey will also find what they are looking for at the Dresden Travel Fair. The travel fair has offers for individual holidays to suit every taste and presents attractive destinations in the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe. Popular destinations in the neighbouring countries of the Czech Republic and Poland are represented, as are spa resorts in Hungary and Slovenia. In addition to the most beautiful German holiday regions such as Bavaria, Thuringia and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the holiday and excursion destinations of the Free State of Saxony will also be presented again. Another focus of the trade fair is the topic of ‘cruising’, from Baltic Sea cruises to ocean crossings. Under the title ‘Fascinating Alps’, attractive destinations in the mountain region between snow-capped peaks, blooming Alpine meadows and deep mountain lakes will be presented again. Active holidays are particularly in demand in Saxony – from hiking trips to bicycle tours. According to the FUR travel analysis, the people of Saxony don't like to laze around on holiday, but are active and thus significantly more adventurous than the German average. The ‘e-BIKE-days’ trade fair special, with innovations ranging from pedelecs to cargo bikes, as well as offers in and around Saxony, a state known for its cycling, fits in well with this. And the ‘Camper+Caravan Days’ are also dedicated to the outdoor trend and show the many facets of freedom on wheels, trends in van conversion, new models and camping accessories. So, in 2024, the Dresden Travel Fair will once again be the first port of call for anyone who doesn't just want to lie on the beach on holiday, but actively explore the country and its people. Numerous travel lectures will provide inspiration and ideas, and tour guides will also be on hand to answer questions about destinations worldwide. The fair is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission costs €10, concessions €8; on Friday there is a senior citizen ticket for €7. Children under 14 years of age accompanied by an adult enter free of charge. All information about exhibitors, the stage programme and holiday cinemas can be found at www.reisemesse-dresden.de or in the travel fair app.
